About Ramona
Ramona is in San Diego County, in the San Diego-Carlsbad metro
area. The community is in the Pacific Standard time zone. The
latitude of Ramona is 33.041N. The longitude is -116.867W. The
population, at the time of the 2000 census, was 15,691. Ramona,
known as "the Valley of the Sun," is situated at the
base of the Cuyamaca Mountains, with close proximity to the Anza
Borrego Desert. Romona currently has a population over 43,000,
which is surprising since it is not an official city of San Diego.
This rustic town is known for its historical landmarks, including
the Verlaque House and the Guy B. Woodward Museum. Fishing and
swimming abound at the Sutherland Lake, and the San Vicente Lake
is known for good water skiing. Golfing is enjoyed by many residents
at the Mt. Woodson Golf and Country Club. Ramona is at the foot
of the Cuyamaca Mountains. The community was named after a novel
by Helen Hunt Jackson. Once known as the "Turkey Capital
