About Stanton
Stanton, a small city in northern Orange County,
is often overshadowed by its neighboring city, Anaheim. Unlike
Anaheim, Stanton was inducted as a city twice. The first time
was in the early 1900's to avoid being made into a sewer farm
and again in the 50's following a spike in the area's population.
Today, residents enjoy Big Adventures, a "little theme park with
big adventures", and the Summerfest and Business Exp in August.
Native Stanton-ites adore their little city, dubbing it with the
motto "Community Pride and Forward Vision."
Area Schools
K-6th Grade: Anaheim City
School District
Anaheim City's 23 schools serve a population of about 23,000 students
from kindergarten through sixth grade, making ACSD one of the
largest elementary districts in California. All schools in the
district are on four-track, year-round schedules. The area is
known for its diversity, with approximately 63 percent are English
learners. ACSD has more than 2,000 employees, with teachers practicing
standards-based instruction, utilizing student support programs,
and using a coordinated curriculum. The district is making strides
to improve their academic performance; In the 2002 / 2003 school
year, 22 schools met their school wide and subject targets.
Grades K-6: Magnolia School
District
The Magnolia School District provides a challenging educational
program for kindergarten through sixth grade in the western portion
of the City of Anaheim, and parts of Stanton. The District values
and enjoys positive, collaborative relationships with 750 certificated
and classified team members, and their representative agencies.
The diverse student population of 7,000 includes four of ten students
receiving primary language support as part of their English-language
transition. The community at-large and parents express high levels
of satisfaction with the District. Paul Mercier, Magnolia School
District Superintendent, was selected as the “Superintendent
of the Year” for California in 2006.
Grades K-6: Savanna School
District
Savanna School District, encompassing parts of the cities of Anaheim,
Buena Park, Cypress and Stanton, is an elementary school district
with approximately 2400 students. These students are housed in
four locations: Cerritos School, Hansen School, Holder School
and Twila Reid School. The district size is about four square
miles with each elementary school located within one mile of another.
The small district size means that Savanna has a family-like atmosphere
among the faculty, support staff, students, parents and the community.
Providing a learning environment and a strong academic program
that focuses on reading, writing, and mathematics is the primary
goal of the Savanna School District.
7th-12th Grade: Anaheim
Union High School District
The Anaheim Union High School District has an impressive 95% graduation
rate and a population of almost 37,000. The district was founded
over a century ago in 1898, and includes the cities of Anaheim,
Buena Park, Cypress, Garden Grove, Stanton, Orange and Stanton.
This area is known for its diversity as its population speaks
over fifty different languages. AUHSD has another reason to be
proud; the district is home to the second highest API scoring
school in the state. Many of these schools are California Distinguished
Schools and have received Golden Bell Awards and Golden State
Exam awards.
