Long Beach is the southern-most coastal city in
Los Angeles County. Just minutes away from Orange County, this

The Long Beach Unified School District has earned a reputation

the 2003-04 national winner of the $500,000 Broad Prize for Urban
Education, recognizing America's best urban school system for
increasing student achievement. The school district has won widespread
recognition for establishing high standards of dress, behavior
and achievement. Its successes have been featured on "Good Morning
America," NBC's "Today Show," CBS's "This Morning," "CNN Headline
News" and other national news media. The district was established
over a century ago in 1885, and today has nearly 100,000 students
in 95 schools. 8,000 employees serve these schools.
