Pacific Beach is a neighborhood of San Diego, bounded by La Jolla to the north, Mission Beach to the south, Interstate 5 to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Pacific Beach is an exciting beach town located in the middle of San Diego's coast. While largely populated by surfers and college students, the population is becoming more professional and affluent due to rising property and rental costs. "PB" as it is known as by local residents is also home to one of San Diego's larger nightlife areas, with dozens of bars and eateries lining main east-west street Garnet and north-south street Mission.A golden beach in Pacific Beach stretches for miles from the Mission Bay jetty to the cliffs of La Jolla. . The city is a huge draw for tourists, with its gorgeous California beaches and hundreds of shops, restaurants, hotels A sidewalk, the boardwalk, running along the beach, is typically crowded with pedestrians, cyclists, rollerbladers, and shoppers. The beach scene revolves around Crystal Pier, which is at the west end of Garnet Street.Unlike many other areas of southern California, alcohol is permitted only on the sand part of the beach in Pacific Beach 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., which naturally makes it a popular spot for parties on the weekends.The primary north-south street running parallel to the beach is Mission Boulevard, with the streets named after late 19th federal officials, then incrementing in alphabetical order as they move further from the coast. Bayard, Cass, Dawes, Everts, Fanuel, Gresham, Haines, Ingraham, Jewell, Kendall, Lamont, Morrell, Noyes, Olney, Pendelton.The east-west streets are named after precious stones and are roughly in alphabetical order from north to south:

Area Schools

San Diego City Schools (SDCS) serves nearly 133,000 students, and has marked more than 150 years of service to San Diego's children. It is the second largest district in California, and eighth largest urban district in the United States. The student population is extremely diverse, representing more than 15 ethnic groups and over 60 languages and dialects.The district’s focus on providing educational excellence and equity to all students has resulted in significant grant funding from private and public agencies, and other organizations supporting education. This includes a $17.5 million grant from the US Department of Education under its Striving Readers program – one of only eight grants given nationwide this year – and a $2.24 million grant from the California Department of Education to provide technology for science education at 12 district middle schools
