About Baldwin Park
Baldwin Park is a city in Los Angeles County, in the Los Angeles-Long
Beach metro area. The estimated population, in 2003, was 78,747.
The community is in the Pacific Standard time zone. The latitude
of Baldwin Park is 34.085N. The longitude is -117.96W. Baldwin
Park is in the San Gabriel Valley. The community was named after
Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin, who operated a horse-breeding
ranch here. Once grazing land for the San Gabriel Mission. Baldwin
Park dates back 142 years to 1860. At that time it was a part
of the cattle grazing land belonging to the San Gabriel Mission;
later, Baldwin Park was part of Rancho Azusa de Dalton and the
Rancho La Puente. Baldwin Park was incorporated in 1956, becoming
the forty-seventh General Law City. Today, the city has changed
from the small farming community in the late 1800's to one of
over 70,000 population.
