About Arcadia
Arcadia is a U.S. city in Los Angeles County, California that
is located about 20 miles Northeast of downtown Los Angeles. .
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 53,054.
The estimated population, in 2003, was 55,443. Arcadia is in the
San Gabriel Valley. The community was named after district of
Greece. Developed during the 1880s around the estate of E.J. Baldwin.
It is the site of the Santa Anita Park racetrack and home to the
Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden Santa Anita Racetrack
opened here in 1934. With a population of 500 and a booming economy
that was somewhat based on entertainment, sporting, hospitality
and gambling opportunities, Arcadia became a city in 1903. Since
then, Arcadia has grown and matured into a city in which Lucky
would have been proud - one of distinction, heritage, success

Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) serves more than 730,000
